Rodrigo Ocampo -  Tenor

During the current season he has appeared as a featured artist in Canada with the Quebec Opera and the Lévis opera for an Opera Gala; then he has presented a recital in Bogota, Colombia and four solo concerts in China including one at Shanghai conservatory of music, in which he delivered as well a Master class in their international Summer program.  Recently, he has been invited as a soloist with the Hujiang orchestra, as well in Shanghai.
 

Mr. Ocampo has performed in La Havana, Cuba (Instituto Superior de Arte ISA) during the ''Musicalia'' festival and he has also sung in concerts and recitals in different countries such as France (Marseille) and Russia (Moscow). He presented his Canadian premier at the lyric society of Beauport (Québec) as well as a concert in Mexico City (INBA hall).

He sang in G. Verdi's Il Trovatore in Lastra a Signa (Italy) and then at Illica festival in Castell'Arquato (Piacenza-Italy) both with the stage direction of reputed Italian Baritone Rolando Panerai and reputed Irish stage director Vivien Hewitt.


In July 2016 he has released his albums ‘’La Notte Italiana’’ (Neapolitan and Italian music) and ‘’Antologia Lirica Colombiana’’ a Colombian chamber music album for voice and piano. During the summer 2013 Mr. Ocampo made his debut in Italy singing ''Phoebus'' in Purcell’s “The fairy Queen” in San Casciano, San Donnino and Florence conducted by  Federico Bardazzi.


He has been soloist in Italy with the "San Felice ensemble conducted by the renowned specialist Federico Sardelli, with the Orchesta Filarmonica Italiana conducted by Valerio Galli and Florence Symphonietta Orchestra conducted by Grazia Rossiin, in Colombia with the Red de bandas and orchestra of Antioquia conducted by Danayla Hristova and Medellin Philharmonic orchestra conducted by Alberto Correa, in Canada with a Baroque Music orchestra for a concert at the American French Museum in Quebec city and recently in China with the Hujiang orchestra in Shanghai among others 


Rodrigo began his studies in Colombia at Luis A. Calvo Academy of music then he graduated from the Conservatory of music of National University tutored by Elsa Gutierrez and Maria Pardo and then He attended Antioquia University for a vocal training  with teacher Danayla Hristova.

Afterwards, he  studied a Master in music at Laval University in Quebec City, Canada tutored by Michel Ducharme. 
He has also completed a Master in music education as well at Laval University and he has a diploma  in music performance from the reputed "Maggio Fiorentino musicale" theater (Florence, Italy). He has a diploma in music conducting and  he has participated in master classes with world renowned singers such as Mirella Freni and Raina Kabaivanska.


Mr. Ocampo is a recipient of various awards including Prize-scholarship from  the Quebec Government, the Colombian Government, the FONCA in Mexico and the Maggio musicale foundation in Italy that enabled him to study. 


In addition to performing, he has served as music director, choir conductor and music teacher in several institutions around the world. He has been recently invited to deliver a master class at Shanghai conservatory of music during the 2019 belt and road summer music program.
